Shilajit or often spelled as Salajeet, is a blackish stone extracted from the ranges of Himalayas and Karakorum. It is widely available in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan.
Shilajit develops over the slow decomposition or humification of herbs and plants in the mountains for centuries. That is why it contains high amounts of minerals.
Some researchers suggest that shilajit is produced by decomposing latex and resin-bearing plant material from species such as Euphorbia royleana and Trifolium repens.
